Antique Dutch Flemish oil painting portrait study of a couple of rogues drinking and smoking in an inn. Continental, Dutch or Flemish School, circa 1850-80. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on panel. Gilt gesso frame. Depicts an inn scene - a couple of rogues - one drinking and one smoking a clay pipe. Size of frame: 16 x 14 inches; Size of panel: 9.5 x 7.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 9 x 7 inches. Weight: 1.45 kg (allow 5 kg once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
