Antique Dutch 17th Century oil painting portrait study of an inn scene attributed to Cornelis Pietersz Bega. Dutch School, 17th Century, circa 1650-64. Signed on reverse in pen/pencil and also manuscript provenance on label: "Dutch School 17th Century. Attributed to Cornelis Pietersz Bega, 1620-1664 (Died of the plaque)." Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts an inn scene with a couple of gentleman, one smoking a clay pipe, and wench. Size of frame: 15 x 14 inches; Size of canvas: 11 x 8.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 10.75 x 9.75 inches. Weight: 1.4 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
