Antique distressed French oil painting portrait study of a young girl writing a letter signed A Renshaw. French, circa 1890-1900. Signed by the artist. Oil on canvas. Gilt frame (more modern). Depicts a young girl writing a letter with a quill. She is very well executed despite the distressed nature of the portrait. Size of frame: 20 x 15.5 inches; Size of canvas: 18.5 x 14 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 17.5 x 13 inches. Weight: 1.1 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Very tatty, distressed condition - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of damage to the canvas with numerous repairs to reverse but all part of its charm and character. Priced to reflect condition. Best described as shabby chic but nevertheless a charming portrait.
