Antique Continental river landscape oil painting of a stone bridge and hamlet signed Wates 1890. European origin - maybe Germanic or Austrian. Signed by the artist. Oil on panel. Gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 16.5 x 12.5 inches. Size of panel: 12.5 x 8.75 inches. Front painting aperture: 12 x 8 inches. Weight: 1.4 kg (allow 4 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Best described as shabby chic. Priced accordingly. This is a genuine antique original and authentic work of art which I have had remounted in a period frame. All the paintings I offer are unique and period. Just for the sake of clarity, please note that this painting is not glazed.
