Antique Continental oil painting portrait of a shepherd boy 1872. Continental, possibly Swiss or Austrian. Dated 1872. Signed by the artist. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a shepherd boy with hat and crook; possibly an Alpine scene. Size of frame: 16 x 14 inches; Size of canvas: 10 x 8 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 9.5 x 7.5 inches. Weight: 1.6 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and some minor knocks to frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
