Antique coastal landscape oil painting of Newton-by-the-Sea, Northumberland signed J Gallon 1909. English, dated 1909. Signed by the artist, John Gallon. Provenance on reverse as follows: "Newton-by-the-Sea, Northumberland (it doesn't look like this now: 2004 (presumably because houses in middle have gone, leaving an open green). By John Gallon, brother of Mary Poulton (1864-1941), George Ronald Lunn's grandmother". Oil on canvas. Gilt frame. Size of frame: 19 x 16.5 inches. Size of canvas: 14.5 x 12 inches. Weight: 1.6 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, two repairs to reverse and some knocks to and pieces missing from gilt gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
