Antique coastal landscape study of fishwives on the beach signed WW. English School, circa 1820-60. Signed with artist' monogram WW on the reverse. Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts fishwives on the beach with fishing boats. Size of frame: 18 x 14 inches; Size of panel: 14 x 10.5 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13.5 x 9.25 inches. Weight: 1.7 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks and repairs to gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
