Antique coastal landscape oil painting of boys and sailing boats near Naples. English School, circa 1890-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Ebonised frame. The canvas is English so possibly painted by an artist whilst on the Grand Tour. Depicts boys on the shore with sailing boats. Apparently near Naples (although I don't have any provenance to this effect). Size of frame: 16 x 12 inches. Size of canvas: 14 x 10 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13.25 x 9.5 inches. Weight: 699g (allow 3 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, lots of scuffs and areas of paint loss, craquelure, some damage to canvas with repair to reverse and some knocks to ebonised frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
