Antique coastal landscape of sailing boats at sunset by Harald Viggo Moltke 1900. Scandinavian, Danish, dated 1900. Signed with artist's monogram "HM". Provenance on reverse on label: "Harald Viggo Moltke (1871-1960). Boats oil on canvas". Oil on board. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts sailing boats at sunset off the coast. Size of frame: 17 x 14 inches; Size of painting: 13 x 10 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 12.25 x 9.25 inches. Weight: 1.5 kg (allow up to 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic or faded grandeur. The auction record for a painting by Harald Viggo Moltke is £10,849 (approximately $13,600).
