Antique coastal landscape of lone figure on the shore entitled Waiting signed W Francis 1887. English, dated 87 (1887). Signed by the artist - signature and provenance on reverse in red (quite faint). Oil on board. Gilt gesso frame. Entitled "Waiting". Depicts a woman waiting for the sailing boat in the distance to arrive. Size of frame: 17.75 x 13.75 inches; Size of painting: 12.25 x 8.25 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 11.75 x 7.75 inches. Weight: 1.3 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, lots of craquelure and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
