Antique oil painting portrait entitled The Harpist signed WF Hardy. American School, circa 1900. Signed by the artist. Provenance on label on reverse as follows: "The Harpist", WF Hardy Senior 1900. William F Hardy Senior (1854-1935) was an American artist who specialised in genre scenes. He lived and worked in Missouri. His son, also named WF Harvey, seems to have specialised mainly in landscapes". Depicts a girl in standing in a doorway with her harp. Oil on board. Ornate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 19 x 17 inches. Size of painting: 15 x 13 inches Size of front painting aperture: 10 x 8 inches. Weight: 2.25 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame and some restoration to frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
