Antique African bronze manilla bracelet

£125.00
Antique African bronze manilla bracelet. Circa 1800 or earlier. From a French colony - the Congo or Cameroon. Originally these were used as money and for trading in African slaves. Shocking to think that people would buy and sell other people. A relic of bygone darker days. This is a particularly interesting example - larger than usual and a more elegant shape. Size: length: 3.25 inches; size of opening: 1.75 inch. Weight: 128g (allow up to 1 kg once packed). Condition commensurate with age and use - various superficial marks & scratches but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Historical artefact.
