Antique 18th Century religious oil painting portrayal of the Good Samaritan. English School, circa 1800. Unsigned, artist but unknown. Oil on panel. Gilt gesso frame (more modern). Depicts a scene from the Bible - the Good Samaritan pouring in oil and wine to the traveller's wounds. Size of frame: 19 x 16 inches; Size of panel: 14.5 x 11.5 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13.75 x 10.75 inches. Weight: 2.6 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
