Antique signed still life oil painting study of game birds pheasant and hen
Antique signed still life oil painting study of game birds pheasant and hen.
English School, circa 1890-1900.
Signed by the artist but tricky to decipher signature.
Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame.
Size of frame: 20.5 x 17 inches;
Size of panel: 16 x 12.5 inches;
Size of front painting aperture: 15.25 x 12 inches.
Weight: 2.37 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed).
Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, a horizontal split in the panel, and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from plaster gesso frame but all part of its charm and character.
Priced accordingly.
Best described as faded grandeur.
A little note about shipping:
This beautiful piece is very old, and its gesso plaster frame is naturally rather delicate. We will pack it with the utmost care to help it reach you safely. That said, it’s possible that fragments of plaster may loosen in transit — this is quite normal for antique frames of this kind. By purchasing, you’re accepting this small risk when shipping by courier. Unfortunately, I’m not able to offer refunds or returns for losses of gesso that may occur in delivery.
